Heat crazed

Hear that? No Play School or incoherent baby babble.....I have the place to myself to mess up as I wish. And no, I'm not doing any house work!

But I did polish up the pair of pincushions I started yesterday. Don't know what I'm doing with these yet.

Something about the heat set off a crafting itch that I went a bit berserk with the fabric scraps from Louise. They were all the perfect size and in such pretty prints.

And just to prove to you that I was real bonkers, I also whipped up this skirt for the kiddo from the fabric I had laundered in the late afternoon. One good thing about the heat, everything was dry in under an hour.

The lace edging was rescued from a thrifted broderie anglaise pillowcase.

Oooh yeah and it's ten degrees cooler today........crazy weather!

Gorgeous work Jade - those fabrics really pop!

I also wanted to ask you if you knew of a simple and good tutorial on how to insert elastic into clothes like skirts and pants. I'm such a newbie to clothes making and I've been meaning to make the girls some skirts and pants but can't seem to get my head around how to insert the elastic. I've checked my Japanese craft books but I think this is something I need to follow in English! Thanks!

Oh yes that's just about the only thing I like about the stinking hot weather, laundry gets dry so quickly!

Gorgeous pincushions and skirt, Jade! You're really on a roll.

Some busy missy! Lovely pincushions, great fabric-combo’s and hurray for the heat-wave of one day! I’m just putting on some extra cloths, the nights are getting cold(er)! Brrrr

the fabric combo on the cushions is perfect!

love it too when the heat speeds up the drying & that can get me into a washing mood.

Lovely sewing, love the pin cushions and I wish my daughter was still wearing those easy little skirts.
So cute.

Your pin cushions look great - nice a stodgy! I hate a whappity soft pin cushion. You need to sell those too. And the thrifted lace - ack - you rock.

Cute, cute, cute! You've been busy. I agree with another commenter -- you should sell your pincushions, they're adorable. Of course, not as cute as my Jadecushion -- I AM a little biased -- but cute, none-the-same! ;-)

Ooh I love the skirt, just so cute with the lace added for the hem. The pincushions are so sweet too, are they easy to make.

The pincushions and skirt are delightful. I love the rich red of the skirt, so sweet for summer time.
