Because it is compulsive and my hands suffer the shakes if I don't make anything STAT!
Enter the one-day quilt.....because it was in pieces yesterday morning.
The binding is all stitched (an all-night jobbie) and its ready to be gifted away for a girl bub's christening.
Her mummy usually puts her in pink, so this piece is decidedly more pink than my usual stuff. And it's really more a playmat size than for a cot.
I've had the fabric in the stash for a while. In fact, I do believe it was one of my stash building purchases. Anyhow, the design came together super quick and now I can tick off one more item off the checklist. Aren't quick projects the best?!
You're probably wondering how I managed to churn this out with a toddler running amok. Easy! I just let the toddler destroy the lounge room.......and the sun room. I tell myself I'll pick up the pieces later.......or the geezer will. Poor bub! I'll have to make it up to her today.
Edit: Just to reassure you bloggy peeps (and me, too) the bub had lots of cuddles, book reading and mummy time today. The craft table can stay a layabout for 24 hours methinks.

very nice playmat - quick things are the best.
just remember - mess will always be there - as soon as you have cleaned up - you have turn around and start again.
I have just done a huge cleanout in my sewing room and I feel fantastic - I wonder how long it will last.
Love the quilt - lucky baby girl!!
PS I posted some photos of some of my stash!!!!

Beautiful work Jade. I agree, things done in a day give me the most satisfaction as well.
Wow - good job Jade - are there a few of my scraps in there?? I love the combo and I'm sure it will be well appreciated. And you should see my place at the moment. I'm trying to get a quick quilt done amongst all the aprons and there's stuff everywhere. Nobody seems to care except me though!!

Beautiful work Jade - and yes, I do love quick projects too! I really like how you've combined colours and fabrics. It will definitely keep the interest of a little one.
That looks great Jade! And indeed quick projects are the best! I love your something?-saurus drawing!
I can't believe you made that quilt so quickly! Awesome, very awesome.
Great little quilt Jade! I don't know how you do it with cute little Bub. She's one lucky girl though to be around all that creativity!
A love quilt and so quickly done. Great !!!!!
Don't worry about your baby, I'm sure things will be back to normal today, just don't let her think she can wreck the house everyday....
Gorgeous as per usual Jade! Hey what size did you make it for it to be a play mat as opposed to a cot quilt? And what batting did you use? Same as for a quilt you'd put on a cot?
the quilt is gorgeous! A great idea for a first quilt I think. I am always looking for a quick easy quilt to be my first!!One day I'll get one made.......
The playmat is great! You have been busy!!
Very nice! And I think it's better to sew and keep yourself sane than be insane with your child. That's the way I sort of look at it.
