Birdy dress with pears

This is what I'm calling this new smock-y thing fresh off the ironing board.....that uncut project I mentioned in the last post. Now that my focus is back on the sewing, everything gets finished quick smart!

Here's an extreme closeup, so you can peek at the fabric I had to sacrifice for this garment. Cute rows of pears and birds, in a soft baby wale cord. Tee hee hee! The fabric is from Leslie's shop and if you ask her nicely, she might still have some left. Maybe.

I always hesitate cutting into beautiful fabric, but hey, that kind of thinking won't get anything finished around here. And let's not forget, the stash is king. Use up some fabric (in a friendly, environmentally responsible way), make room for more.

And here's the kiddo sporting her new duds with her "teletubby". She refused to put it down even for the photo.

That would be the red stuffed alien in her hands......not the geezer.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend! Cheerio!

PS.........pattern for the birdy smocky dress is from this craft book.

Love the Birdy Pinafore - the fabric, the style, and especially the model! Japanese fabric is the best.

just beautiful Jade. So glad you clarified the fact that the geezer was not the teletubby! I was wondering.

Adorable!!! What a little sweetie she is and the pinafore looks just perfect. I really have to make some girly dresses for Daph - I think she would love them.

Thank you for the lovely words! I love your dresses and especially the fabric you find. We don't have any Japanese prints where I live. I'm so jealous. I'm definitely adding you to my blogroll!

Oh Jade you've done it again - just stunning, your eye for detail is just outstanding - and you know in fashion 'one day you're in, the next day - you're out!' (hope you are watching 'Prjoect Runnway', else that makes no sense!)
