Double duty

By the way, I've signed up (stupidly?) for NaBloPoMo. For this month, I'm going to attempt to flex some blogging muscle every day. If I end up with some uninspiring inane post, I apologise in advance now.....because I know a lot of you peeps come to visit here for inspiration. And you'll definitely get a taste of my current moods.....fun, boring or foul with the daily blogging. But hey, on with the show!

I have more than a few guilty pleasures and here's me showing you another one. Ever since we got an inkling that a little person was on the way, I started collecting children's storybooks.

(from Moonbird)

As when I was a kiddo myself, I wanted the bub's childhood to be full of colourful picture books. I fondly remember days of just looking at pages like these.

Oh, she's got some board books for now. But these are the ones that she's only allowed to see, not touch.

Once, she learns to take better care of her stuff, then I might let her turn the pages. He he he!

Because this lot does double duty in this home.

While she's still small, they're mine to look on for the inspiring illustrations and images.

Some are incredibly detailed...........while others are very minimalist. But all of them are eye-candy!

So whenever I'm flailing around for an image to draw or checking colour combinations, I'm probably sticking my nose into one of these.

And since today is another bub-free day I might visit the local bookshop, and browse some more. Cheerio!

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one that buys books for my children that they aren't allowed to touch! I have a draw where they are hidden for when they are older and I often pull them out for ideas, I see beautiful illustrations and I can't help myself.

I love children's books and some of those you should us are beautiful! My current favourites are Scaredy Squirrel (about an OCD squirrel), anything by Lauren Child and How to Catch a Star - oh and my favourite favourite Russell the Sheep!!

It's nice to flick through them sometimes and just reminisce about your childhood. It's amazing what comes back to you when you are raising kids.

Aha! Another obsession -- children's books! Aren't they awesome! I collected lots of books when my boys were small -- not so many now though. Occasionally I still wander into the children's section to see what's new. For many years I felt like there wasn't much new, but now I've been out of the loop long enough that I see all new books.
