Well! We did have great warm-ish days and sunny skies the last few days.....but I still missed the blog and all of you peeps. And there's lots to tell. I've been a busy bunny.
Let me introduce you to the first of the summer range. Cheeky monkey! That's what I'm calling this smock.....cos' look at the super-cute print.
The fabric is from Retromummy, if you're wondering.....and some natural coloured linen. This is an experiment that thankfully is going to work out after all. I find that sometimes linen is too stiff to work with, until it's washed with a big drenching of fabric softener. So I'm going to be making some more of these very shortly.
And because I'm sorta chuffed about the first linen smock, I went on a bit of a spree today whilst I was sans bub, with most of the market dosh. Lookee, lookee! A whole heap of plain linen and cotton voile fabrics lined up for the next laundry day.
And they were from apparently a garment industry secret source deep in the rat-infested streets of Surry Hills, Sydney......because I got them all at wholesale prices (with a small cutting fee, because I can't really buy the whole roll). Can you hear me whooping with glee? Hip hip hooray! And thank goodness I didn't have the rug-rat, as it was soooo tight and squeezy in there.
Oooh, and I'm going to be cheeky and keep the secret....unless you really, really, really want to know.

Oh it looks so good! I MUST have one, I can see Abbey wearing it with a little pair of demin shorts. Very cute!
I adore the monkeys and the linen combo is great! Well done! Don't you love fabric shopping minus bubs....as much as I love mine to death its nice to be able to shop with both hands free and mind on the job!
Cheeky Jade! ;p
The smock looks fabulous!! And the new fabric colours look good too!
The smock looks great!! I love the monkey fabric! So a secret source has been found - sounds like a good deal to me!!
C'mon Jade! You KNOW we want to know! Does it involve Bubs? ;-) Love the monkeys and ... don't wash that RED with the other colors. LOL.
What cheeky little monkeys. You know if Unit 1 is a gal you've got at least one new sale you can bank on!
There's probably more than one fabric shopping secret hidden in the filthy depths of surry hills I suspect ;)
oh the little monkey fabric is very cheeky indeed. It looks so yummy on the little smock Jade.

Oh how sweet - lovely little monkeys! I had Daphne with me yesterday at Amitie and after 2hrs she had had enough of pulling apart the button shelves, the fabrics and all the embroidery threads. I myself was exhausted from running around after her!!
Plain linen...get outta here? I love your cheeky monkey pinny - too cute.
how cute. i might have to get one of those cheeky monkey smocks for Lauren. she loves Curious George at the moment. will speak to you soon:-)
Gorgeous work. I have this linen Monkey & Crab fabric in a dark red & sell it on products at the markets - so many people know the cartoon?? I just smile & say "yes yes yes, it's from Japan" as i remain clueless to what they are talking about. It's so sweet, love what you've done with it. Love Posie
